The formatting of your thesis will be checked by the College of Graduate Studies to ensure that it meets formatting requirements. You and your supervisory committee are responsible for editing the thesis, for using correct grammar and spelling, consistent terminology, and clear writing throughout.
Editing Your Thesis
Hiring an Editor
The Editors’ Association of Canada (EAC) has created Guidelines for Ethical Editing of Theses/Dissertations to aid its members and others in the ethical editing of English language theses. The document clarifies the different tasks that may be asked of an editor and what level of editing is appropriate for a thesis. It is based on research with university administrators and members of the EAC who have had experience in working with thesis writers.
Editors Canada accepts no liability for use of the document or alterations to it.
Students and supervisors are expected to discuss whether or not it is appropriate to hire an editor, and to agree on the editing tasks to be performed.
