The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Doctoral Research Awards provide special recognition and support to students who are pursuing a doctoral degree in a health-related field. Two types of awards are available. Please be advised that an applicant can only apply to one competition in the same year:
- Frederick Banting and Charles Best Canada Graduate Scholarship Doctoral Awards (CGS-D) for students pursuing a doctoral degree in a health-related field in Canada
- UBC application deadline: 15 September 2020 at 12:00 pm PDT
- Doctoral Foreign Study Award (DFSA) for students pursuing a doctoral degree in a health-related field abroad
- CIHR application deadline: 19 October 2020 (apply directly to CIHR)
In addition, please note that if successful, an applicant cannot change the proposed location or institution paid from a Canadian institution to a foreign institution since the purpose of these competitions are different.
Value: $30,000/year + $5,000 research allowance for up to 3 years
