QUICK FACTS

$20,000 entrance awards (payable at $10,000 per year) have been made available annually through a gift from the Stober Foundation, along with matching funds from The University of British Columbia, to a domestic Masters or PhD student. Each competition below has a designated year in which the award will be offered.

Stober Foundation Graduate Entrance Award in Biology

A $20,000 entrance award (payable at $10,000 per year) has been made available annually through a gift from the Stober Foundation, along with matching funds from The University of British Columbia, to a domestic Masters or PhD student supervised by a Biology faculty member in the Biology or Biochemistry and Molecular Biology program in the Faculty of Science at The University of British Columbia, Okanagan campus. Preference given to a student with a focus in the health science field. The award is renewable for a second year subject to the student maintaining academic standing. The award is made on the recommendation of the College of Graduate Studies in consultation with the Faculty of Science.

Academic Year: 2020/21

Stober Foundation Graduate Entrance Award in Chemistry

A $20,000 entrance award (payable at $10,000 per year) has been made available annually through a gift from the Stober Foundation, along with matching funds from The University of British Columbia, to a domestic Masters or PhD student supervised by a Chemistry faculty member in the Chemistry or Biochemistry and Molecular Biology program in the Faculty of Science at The University of British Columbia, Okanagan campus. Preference given to a student with a focus in the health science field. The award is renewable for a second year subject to the student maintaining academic standing. The award is made on the recommendation of the College of Graduate Studies in consultation with the Faculty of Science.

Stober Foundation Graduate Entrance Award in Engineering

A $20,000 entrance award (payable at $10,000 per year) has been made available annually through a gift from the Stober Foundation, along with matching funds from The University of British Columbia, to a domestic Masters or PhD student in the Engineering graduate program in the School of Engineering in the Faculty of Applied Science at The University of British Columbia, Okanagan campus. Preference given to a student with a focus in the health science field. The award is renewable for a second year subject to the student maintaining academic standing. The award is made on the recommendation of the College of Graduate Studies in consultation with the School of Engineering.

Stober Foundation Graduate Entrance Award in Clinical Psychology

A $20,000 entrance award (payable at $10,000 per year) has been made available annually through a gift from the Stober Foundation, along with matching funds from The University of British Columbia, to a domestic Masters or PhD student in the Clinical Psychology graduate program in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at The University of British Columbia, Okanagan campus. Preference given to a student with a focus in the health science field. The award is renewable for a second year subject to the student maintaining academic standing. The award is made on the recommendation of the College of Graduate Studies in consultation with the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.

Academic Year: 2022/23

ELIGIBILITY

  • Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents
  • Incoming full-time thesis-based Master’s and Doctoral students
  • Preference is given to a student in the health science field

APPLICATION and nomination PROCEDURES

  • All applicants who have submitted a complete admission application by the date indicated for each Academic year’s admission period will be considered for the award
  • No additional application is required
  • Students are not able to update or make changes to their admission application for the purpose of this award
  • Please consult with the relevant graduate program coordinator for more details

CONDITIONS FOR AWARD HOLDERS

SATISFACTORY PROGRESS
  • Award holders must maintain satisfactory progress in their program of study and remain registered as a full-time students for each term of the award payment
  • If a student is not making satisfactory progress, then the College of Graduate Studies reserves the right to cancel the second year of the award
WITHDRAWALS
  • If an award holder withdraws from their program of study, the funding received during the term for which the withdrawal is processed will be recovered by the College of Graduate Studies
