Eligibility

Evaluation Criteria
- Alignment with the objectives of the award (i.e. research on memory or memory-related issues)
- Research ability and potential
- Experience and achievements obtained within and beyond academia (e.g. awards, academic record, extracurricular activity)
- Faculties provide nominations to the College of Graduate Studies
Nomination Procedures
- Each faculty Dean’s office forms an internal review to select up to two nominations to provide to the College of Graduate Studies by the CoGS nomination deadline of October 21, 2024.
- Nominations must include:
- A one-page letter composed by the student that:
- Includes a sentence stating they would like to be considered for the Lashley and Mary Haggman Memorial Research Award
- Includes an outline of proposed research which also describes how the research relates to memory or memory-related issues
- Is in PDF format; is set in 12-point Times New Roman font; is single spaced; has all margins set at a minimum of ¾“ or 1.87 cm
- Student CV
- The student’s CV should include scholarships and awards, contributions to research and publications, work experience, etc.
- Letter of support from the thesis supervisor
- All undergraduate and graduate transcripts
- These transcripts will be automatically attached to the application for the College of Graduate Studies adjudication from the student’s file (official transcripts do not need to be ordered)
- To request transcripts from the College of Graduate Studies for the faculty review please send the request to graduateawards.ok@ubc.ca
- A one-page letter composed by the student that:
- Nominations are reviewed and one winner is selected by the College of Graduate Studies Scholarship and Awards Committee
- Only successful students are notified

Faculties are to submit all nomination materials as one PDF document to their UBC Sharepoint folder (within the umbrella folder ‘COGS – Faculty – Folder Structure”) or to graduateawards.ok@ubc.ca.
