The UBC Okanagan Clifford Alexander Robson and Else Loella Robson Memorial Scholarship Award is awarded to graduate students who are registered with the Disability Resource Centre with specific accommodation for time to completion at UBC Okanagan.

Eligibility

  • Continuing Graduate Students in UBC Okanagan programs (must be registered in their program at the time of receiving an award).
  • All graduate students who are registered with the Disability Resource Centre with specific accommodation for time to completion.
    • Masters: beyond 24 months in program at the time of receipt of the award.
    • Doctoral: beyond 48 months in program at the time of receipt of the award.
  • The Award can be received by a graduate student only once per academic year.

Academic Standing

  • Each year, students’ progress is evaluated as either satisfactory, requiring improvement, or unsatisfactory through an Annual Progress Report. Students with unsatisfactory progress become ineligible for award funding. Students will regain eligibility when improvement required or satisfactory status is reported in the required six month interim progress report or a subsequent annual progress report.

Evaluation Criteria

  • Feasibility and quality of the completion plan.
  • Evidence that the program is supporting the student and their completion plan.

Application Procedures

The following materials must be submitted to the College of Graduate Studies by the deadline:

  • The UBC Okanagan Clifford Alexander Robson and Else Loella Robson Memorial Scholarship Award Application Form, including all required attachments, completed by the student:
    • Completed application form.
      • Demographic and contact information, confirmation of registration with the DRC and their DRC advisor.
    • 1-page completion plan, written by the student, outlining the student’s plan for the coming year and how they intend to proceed towards program completion.
    • An accommodation letter from the Disability Resource Centre that contains a specific accommodation for extended time to completion.
    • Nomination letter from the graduate program coordinator speaking to support of the student and the feasibility of the completion plan (maximum 2 pages).  Under extenuating circumstances this letter can come from the College of Graduate Studies.
    • If confirmation is not received, this may be due to an unstable internet connection or technical glitch. Please resubmit the application until confirmation is received, as the application will not be submitted otherwise. You may need to try different browsers, computers, or internet connections.
  • The Disability Resource Centre will adjudicate the award along with a representative of the College of Graduate Studies.

Conditions for Award Holders

Academic Standing

Registration

  • In order to remain eligible for this scholarship, students must remain registered as a full-time student for each term of the scholarship payment.

Leave of Absence

  • Students granted a leave of absence retain the full value of any scholarship or other award whose terms and conditions are established by the College of Graduate Studies. An award will be suspended at the onset of the leave, and reinstated at the termination of the leave period.

Withdrawals

  • If an award holder withdraws from their program of study, they will retain this award.

Deferrals

  • Students receiving an award cannot defer the award to a subsequent fiscal.
