Quick Facts
Ken and Jean Finch are pleased to offer one $15,000 award to a PhD student and two $5,000 awards to two Master’s students who are engaged in a research-based full-time graduate degree program at the University of British Columbia, Okanagan campus. Preference is given to students whose studies may lead to entrepreneurship, innovation, community involvement or local economic development.
Award Value: $15,000 for a PhD student & two $5,000 awards for two Master’s students

Eligibility
Registration
- Applicants must be enrolled in full-time study and/or research in the 2024 Winter Session (2024/25) in order to hold a scholarship
Academic Standing
- A progress report evaluated as satisfactory by the College of Graduate Studies based on established, articulated criteria
Number of Months of Study
- Starting September 2024, Masters students must have completed, as of December 31 of the application year, no more than 24 months of study in the program for which they are requesting funding
- Doctoral students must have completed, as of December 31 of the application year, no more than 60 months of study in the program for which they are requesting funding

Application Procedures
The following materials must be submitted to the College of Graduate Studies by the deadline:
- The Finch Family Graduate Award Application Form, including all required attachments, completed by the student
- Once the Finch Family Graduate Award application is submitted, the student will receive an email notification that includes the application in its entirety. This must be converted into a PDF (Print – PDF) and emailed to the referee
- If confirmation is not received, this may be due to an unstable internet connection or technical glitch. Please resubmit the application until confirmation is received, as the application will not be submitted otherwise. You may need to try different browsers, computers, or internet connections
- One academic letter of reference
- Submitted via the Finch Family Graduate Award Reference Form
- Students must send their referee the Finch Family Graduate Award Reference Form link for completion
Nomination Procedures
- Applications are adjudicated by the College of Graduate Studies Scholarship and Awards Committee
- Only successful applicants are notified
