QUICK FACTS

A $2,500 award is offered by Silver Star Resort Ltd. in memory of its entrepreneurial patriarch Desmond Schumann to a student enrolled in a graduate degree program at the University of British Columbia, Okanagan campus. Preference is given to a student who has demonstrated academic achievement with a focus in business-related activities associated with the Faculty of Management or with the School of Engineering, and whose studies may lend to entrepreneurship and innovation, community leadership, local economic development, international relations, marketing, project management or the service industry. The award is made on the recommendation from the respective Faculties and Schools and in consultation with the College of Graduate Studies.

Annual Value: $2,500

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

  • All currently registered graduate students in the School of Engineering and the Faculty of Management will be considered for this award

NOMINATION PROCEDURES

  • The School of Engineering and the Faculty of Management will review and evaluate currently registered graduate students and make an award recommendation to the College of Graduate Studies
  • Only successful nominees will be notified
